BEIRUT — Israeli air and ground attacks have killed dozens of Palestinians across Gaza as Israeli military operations intensify, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting at least 51 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to al-Jazeera.
Overnight airstrikes targeted locations in Gaza City, including the Muscat School and al-Amal Orphanage, where nine displaced people sheltering at the sites were killed. The Israeli military also attacked the Brig High School in central Gaza.
In southern Gaza, airstrikes and tanks targeted three neighborhoods in Khan Younis, killing at least 32 people and injuring dozens, including seven women and 12 children, according to the city’s European Hospital. Victims began arriving at both the European and Nasser Hospitals around 3 a.m., and the death toll is expected to rise.
The attacks in Gaza coincide with a broader escalation of violence in the region, as Israeli forces carry out raids and arrests in the occupied West Bank and intensify their conflict with Lebanon — with a ground offensive beginning Monday alongside violent strikes across several regions.
Meanwhile, tensions in the region have intensified following Iran’s missile attacks on Israel, which Tehran described as retaliation for Israeli strikes on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the killing of senior Hamas figures and Hezbollah's leader.
Israeli fire has killed over 41,500 Palestinians and wounded around 100,000 people in Gaza over the past year.
