During a tour of the destroyed neighborhoods of southern Beirut, organized by Hezbollah for Lebanese and foreign journalists, the party's spokesperson, Mohammad Afif, declared that "the Resistance is doing well."
He confirmed that "fighting took place this morning in Odaisseh and, just moments before this press conference, in Maroun al-Ras (in southern Lebanon), between our fighters and enemy soldiers," asserting that the Resistance repelled the Israeli forces and inflicted casualties on them. The Lebanese army confirmed a "brief incursion" by the Israeli army into southern Lebanon.
"The enemy is starting to acknowledge its losses, which is very rare for it," Afif emphasized. "We have enough brave and well-trained fighters, and we have enough weapons, to hold the southern front," he added.
Addressing the Israeli army, he said: "You have won a few rounds through your air raids and assassinations, but the war continues, and we will prevail."
On Friday, Israel assassinated Hezbollah's secretary-general in southern Beirut and carried out a series of assassinations of senior military officials of the party before and after that date. Israeli forces intensified their air raids on Lebanon abruptly about ten days ago and announced a ground operation that reportedly began on Tuesday.
