Iran asserted on Wednesday that it had not warned the United States before attacking Israel the previous day and called on Washington "not to intervene" in support of its ally.

"Before the attack, there was no exchange of messages" with the American side, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on state television, denying any "coordination." He added that Iran had communicated with the U.S. after the missile strikes.

According to Iranian television, Tehran launched 200 missiles at Israel, including for the first time several hypersonic missiles, during its Tuesday night attack, dubbed "Honest Promise 2."

"We have also warned American forces to stay out of this matter and not intervene, or they will face a severe response from us," continued the Iranian diplomat.

"Our operation is over, and we do not intend to continue," Araghchi added.

The Islamic Republic stated it had conducted the operation in response to the deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Palestinian Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Both groups are allied with Iran as part of an "axis of resistance" against Israel.

Tuesday night's attack was the second launched by Iran against Israel in six months, following one in April, when Tehran claimed it had acted in "self-defense" after an attack destroyed its consulate in Damascus, killing seven of its military personnel.
