MP Salim Aoun of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM, Aounist) stated on Saturday that a wireless booby trap was discovered near his residence in Ksara, Bekaa, yesterday and was destroyed by law enforcement.
In an interview with the FPM's OTV channel, Aoun noted that it is "shameful to mention this incident in the current context of massacres and deaths," following a deadly Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, as reported by Lebanon Debate.
He suggested that it could be acts carried out by "people looking to cause mischief, sow confusion, or send a message."
"All hypotheses are possible," Aoun emphasized, adding that he had not received clear answers about the device from the attorney general. "I understood that this incident has occurred in other places," he added.
On Friday, al Nashra reported that two wireless explosive devices had been found in a trash container near Aoun's home in Ksara, at the entrance to the city of Zahleh. Law enforcement officials responded to destroy the device, while the Lebanese army destroyed another device, Lebanon Debate clarified.
