In the corridor connecting the emergency room to the operating theater at Hôtel-Dieu de France (HDF) in Achrafieh, nurses pushed a stretcher carrying a young man, injured in the aftermath of Tuesday’s simultaneous pager explosions.The blasts, which wounded nearly 2,800 people — mostly Hezbollah members — and claimed the lives of 12, including four civilians, have left Lebanon in shock.Wrapped in bandages and his face still bloodied, the young man was followed by a sobbing woman and grim-faced men.The operation, which Hezbollah blamed on Israel, comes amid ongoing conflict between the two sides in southern Lebanon, which has persisted since Oct. 8, 2023, following Hamas’ sudden attack on Israel.
