The Lebanese Union of Palestinian Committees for the Right of Return held a sit-in Monday in front of a UNRWA clinic in the Ain el-Helweh camp, calling for increased UN support for refugees.

This demonstration took place during a visit by UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini to Beirut.

Ghassan Bekai, president of the Federation of Palestinian Unions in Lebanon, urged donor countries to honor "their commitments and increase their support so that UNRWA can have a stable budget to fulfill its responsibilities in improving services for refugees," according to remarks reported by our correspondent.

Samir Charif, head of the Palestinian Right of Return Committee in Saida, emphasized the importance of Lazzarini's visit to the Palestinian camps. He called on the UNRWA chief to "make every effort to secure the necessary funds to implement a comprehensive emergency plan that provides refugees with the means for a dignified and decent life."
