Walid Joumblatt, former head of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP), reiterated his concerns on Wednesday that the Gaza war between Hamas and the Israeli army, and its repercussions, are only at their "beginnings."
Joumblatt wrote on X, "It seems that, according to forecasts, the war will not end and is only at its beginnings. The Zionist project will not stop at attempting to annihilate Gaza but will continue into the West Bank," where the Israeli army is conducting violent raids. He called for "protecting Jordan" and suggested that "the solution for Lebanon lies in a compromise."
Since Oct. 8, Joumblatt has positioned himself as a defender of "resistance" and Hezbollah's involvement in the war. He has repeatedly expressed pessimism about recent events and, in June, predicted an escalation of the conflict in southern Lebanon.
