A delegation headed by Fouad Zmokhol, president of the International Confederation of Lebanese Businessmen (Midel), met on Monday with the Algerian ambassador to Lebanon, Rachid Belbaki, to thank him for his country's support for Lebanon.
The delegation was composed of Midel Vice President Mona Bouarchi, its Secretary General Elie Aoun, and board members Riad Abji and Anis Khoury.
According to the statement, the delegation told the diplomat that "without Algeria's rapid action to send a fuel ship to Lebanon, the country would have been plunged into total darkness." These remarks come as Lebanon has recently experienced a new blackout, due to a lack of fuel to power its power plants. Mr. Belbaki, for his part, affirmed that "this decision and this donation came directly from the Algerian president to stand alongside the Lebanese." The participants discussed the fact that it was time to switch from oil to gas, which is more economical and more productive, to produce electricity.
The meeting finally focused on trade between Lebanon and Algeria, in particular on Lebanese investments in this country.
