Saida's municipality on Saturday announced the successful evacuation of a building on Riad Solh Street on Wednesday, Aug. 7, due to severe structural damage. The building, located on property number 1089 in the Dekrman neighborhood, was cleared of its residents as a precautionary measure following the identification of significant cracks and deterioration.

"Safety is our top priority,"  Saida's mayor, Hazem Khodr Bdeir, said in a statement. "We took this action to protect the lives of the residents after final warnings were issued two months ago."

Municipal police, with support from the Internal Security Forces, conducted the evacuation following a directive from South Lebanon Governor Mansour Daou. The municipality says it will now begin the process of restoring the building.
