Greek airline Aegean Airlines said on Tuesday it was canceling flights to Beirut until Aug. 1 due to the security situation in the country. "We are constantly assessing the evolving situation following the instructions of the relevant authorities," the airline said, according to a statement reported by Reuters.

Flights to Beirut International Airport by Lufthansa, Eurowings, Swiss, Air France and Transavia were canceled on Monday, as the international community fears an Israeli response against Hezbollah following the deadly strike in the occupied Golan on Saturday night. The attack, which Israel blamed on Hezbollah, which denies it, killed twelve children and teenagers.

Most flights scheduled to and from Beirut between midnight and 6 a.m. on Monday were also postponed or canceled. This was notably the case for flights by Qatar Airways, Pegasus, Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Egyptair. Air traffic then returned to normal. Middle East Airlines rescheduled some flights, citing "technical reasons relating to the distribution of insurance risks for aircraft between Lebanon and abroad."
