The Hezbollah parliamentary group urged on Thursday that efforts to end the conflict in southern Lebanon between the militant party and Israel, and to resolve the Gaza conflict, should "remain realistic."

"In light of the dangers and damage caused by the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza, the West Bank, and other Palestinian territories, Lebanon must stay prepared and supportive of the victims in Palestine," the party said in a statement issued after its weekly meeting.

"This is necessary to exert pressure to end the aggression and protect national sovereignty, which is targeted by the Zionist enemy." Hezbollah emphasized that "efforts to find an acceptable formula to end the war and halt the aggression against Gaza must remain realistic, avoiding exaggeration."

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein is mediating between Beirut and Tel Aviv to reduce tensions. Washington supports specific measures for Lebanon and Hezbollah, with the latter expected to withdraw from southern Lebanon to ensure compliance with U.N. Resolution 1701.

The next phase will involve finalizing the land border demarcation between the two countries, including the disputed areas of Ghajar (contested by Lebanon, Syria, and Israel) and the Shebaa Farms — which will require extended negotiations.
