BEIRUT — One person died and three others were injured on Monday after a fire erupted in an apartment in Chiyah, a suburb in southern Beirut, the Lebanese Civil Defense said in a statement. The fire has since been brought under control.
The three injured people were transported to the Jeitawi Hospital, while the body was transferred to Bahman Hospital, according to the Civil Defense.
At 5 a.m. on Monday, "members of the Civil Defense, assisted by the suburb fire brigade, extinguished a fire that broke out inside an apartment located on the third floor of a residential building in Chiyah - the southern suburb of Beirut," read the Civil Defense's statement.
Until now, the cause of the fire is undetermined and remains unclear.
