Three young swimmers, including a teenager who drowned, were rescued Sunday morning by emergency responders in Mina, near Tripoli, as reported by our correspondent in North Lebanon, Michel Hallak.
The swimmers were taken to the Islamic Hospital in Tripoli, where a 12-year-old Syrian died shortly after arrival.
Incidents of drowning have increased this year in Lebanon. Despite warnings to be cautious, at least 47 people have drowned in the sea and rivers since January, including at least 22 along the coast, according to L'Orient Today's count.
