Forty-three Emiratis have received life sentences for "terrorism"-related offenses in the United Arab Emirates, state media said on Wednesday, after a mass trial heavily criticized by U.N. experts and rights groups.
The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal "sentenced 43 defendants to life imprisonment for the crime of creating, establishing, and managing a terrorist organization," the official WAM news agency said.
