On Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a letter to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, assuring him that "support for the resistance will continue with strength."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the resistance of the peoples of the region against the illegal Zionist entity. Support for the resistance is embedded in the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will continue with strength," wrote the new reformist president.

On Saturday, the Shia leader congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory in the Iranian presidential election, highlighting Tehran's role as a "strong" supporter of "resistance" groups in the region.

Tehran provides financial and military support to Hezbollah, which was created with the help of the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, following the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. The resistance movement is a key element of what is known as the axis of resistance, an alliance of pro-Iranian armed movements opposed to Israel and the United States. The alliance also includes Hamas, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and groups in Iraq.
