At least one person was killed Saturday when an Israeli drone fired a missile at a van passing through the village of Chaat, some 10 kilometers from Baalbeck, according to a security source quoted by our correspondent in the region, Sarah Abdallah. The state-run National News Agency (NNA) also reported one fatality as a result of the strike.

According to information from our correspondent, the victim was a Hezbollah fighter, and, shortly after the attack, Hezbollah announced the death of Mayssam Moustapha Attar, born in 1991 and originally from Chaat.

The Israeli army indicated, via a message posted on X posted by its Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, that Mayssam Attar was "an important expert in Hezbollah's air defense." According to Adraee, Attar played "a role in the planning and execution of terrorist attacks" against Israel, having gained experience "during trips to Iran."

After the drone strike, Israeli aircraft continued to overfly the area.

Strikes in south Lebanon

In southern Lebanon, shortly after the Chaat strike, the Israeli air force twice bombed Houla, in the Marjayoun district, according to a security source contacted by our correspondent Muntasser Abdallah. These two strikes, carried out alternately by a fighter plane and a drone, targeted homes.

Israeli aircraft then targeted the outskirts of Odaisseh (also in the Marjayoun district).

Hezbollah later issued its thrid statement of the day, claiming responsibility for an attack on the "Samaka" site in the disputed Kfar Shuba heights.
