Arab League’s Hezbollah U-turn: Unveiling diplomatic intrigue
After surprising many by announcing that it no longer considered Hezbollah a terrorist entity, the Arab League has now reversed its position, likely due to pressure from Saudi Arabia.

A few days after announcing that his organization no longer classified Hezbollah as a “terrorist” group, Hossam Zaki, the Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League, slightly retracted his statement.Without accusing the party of terrorism, he asserted that his remarks in Beirut had been "taken out of context and misinterpreted."The initial announcement "in no way diminishes [Arab] reservations and objections to Hezbollah’s actions and positions, both locally and regionally," according to a press release issued on Monday, a day after Zaki's statement.He also stressed that the League remained firmly committed to its “unanimously adopted” position following the Nouakchott summit in July 2016 on “maintaining Arab national security and combating terrorism.” Read also: Why the Arab League changed its stance toward Hezbollah This position...
