The Civil Defense Marine Division was still searching Sunday evening for one of the two young men who disappeared off the coast of Kfar Abida (Batroun) after finding the remains of one of them around 8 p.m.
Earlier, it rescued two other young men in distress on the same stretch of coastline, according to L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent in North Lebanon.
The drowning victim and the missing youth are Palestinians from the Beddawi camp in North Lebanon and were reported missing around 4:30 p.m. One of the rescued swimmers is the brother of one of them and is in good health.
Civil Defense issued a warning against the risk of drowning the same morning, asking swimmers to avoid swimming in the sea, due to the violent winds and the waves and currents which are raging.
