The General Assembly of the Order of Chartered Accountants on Friday elected its president and board members for a two-year term. According to several sources, a list supported by the Lebanese Forces (LF), the Future Movement, the Kataeb and independents took all the seats.

The list chaired by Elie Abboud (supported by the LF) included nine other members: Jean Bacha (Kataeb), Mohammad Bleik and Fady al-Masri (Future Movement), and independents Khalil Zeidane, Nabil Ghaith, Graziella Hobeika, Khalil Obeid, Simon Sfeir and Nadim Daher. The members of the Disciplinary Board were also elected from the same list, namely Elias Merhej (Kataeb) and Bachir Abdel Sanjar. The same goes for the elected members of the Pension Fund: Charbel Haddad and Sleiman Obeid. This list won against a rival list backed by the Free Patriotic Movement, Amal, Hezbollah and the Progressive Socialist Party.

The winning list's electoral platform includes the following points: improving the skills of chartered accountants, modernizing the laws and rules governing this profession, playing a more dynamic national role, and improving the social services available to these professionals.
