Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed ben Abdel Rahman al-Thani received Lebanese former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Joumblatt, his wife Nora and their son Teymour, who has taken over from his father as head of the party. MP Hadi Abou al-Hosn attended the meeting.
Lebanon's ambassador to Qatar, Farah Berri – daughter of Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berry – was also present at the meeting, at the end of which Walid Joumblatt praised Qatar's ongoing efforts to secure a cease-fire in Gaza. He praised its role in the Group of Five (which, in addition to Qatar, includes France, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Egypt), which is working to unblock the Lebanese presidential election, which has been deadlocked since late October 2022.
