A mother and her son were seriously wounded on Wednesday in Kiryat Shmona, northern Israel, after an anti-tank missile was fired from the direction of Lebanon, Haaretz reported.

The mother and her son were traveling in a car when a missile fell near them. "The vehicle flew sideways, they got out of it and then there was a second missile that hit them," Deputy Mayor Ofir Yehezkeli, who was at the scene, told the Israeli newspaper.

The Israeli army announced that two rockets fell in the city and the municipality stated that damage was caused to several vehicles in the area.

Earlier Hezbollah claimed an attack on a police building in Kiryat Shmona at 11:15 a.m. They said it was in retaliation to Israeli attacks on civilian areas, including a strike on the southern Lebanese village of Tallouseh.

The Israeli army on Monday carried out several airstrikes on Tallouseh which is believed to have killed three Hezbollah members, who were announced dead by the party on Tuesday morning.

Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging attacks since the beginning of the conflict on Oct. 7.
