Gen. Aoun meets British official following Cameron's Beirut visit

BEIRUT — Lebanese Army Chief General Joseph Aoun met with British Deputy Chief of the Defense Staff Charles Walker in Yarzeh on Friday, accompanied by the British ambassador to Lebanon Hamish Cowell and the embassy's military attache Lee Richard Saunders.

The visit comes a day after British Secretary of State David Cameron visited Lebanon to discuss the latest developments in the region.

According to the Lebanese state-owned National News Agency, the two sides discussed the latest developments in southern Lebanon and how to facilitate cooperation between the two armies.

The Lebanese southern area has been experiencing daily exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and the Israeli army since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel led by Palestinian factions in Gaza
