Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited Kuwait on Sunday, to offer their condolences in the wake of Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah's death, Emir of Kuwait, who passed away at the age of 86.

In a statement published on X (formerly Twitter), the Grand Serail said that Deputy Prime Minister Saade Chami was also part of the delegation to Kuwait.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on X offering "its deepest and most painful condolences" to Kuwait.

Bustros Palace added that Sheikh Nawaf "loved Lebanon deeply and was committed to preserving the best possible relations between our two countries and peoples." It salutes "a leader who dedicated himself to serving his country."

Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah had only been Emir of Kuwait for three years, but had been involved in the affairs of the small oil-rich country for six decades. He had held many positions of responsibility in the capital Kuwait City, which houses 4.2 million inhabitants.
