BEIRUT — One man was killed and three people were injured after gunfire targeted a Gaza solidarity march on Monday in the Palestinian Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, reported L'Orient Today's correspondent in the South, citing paramedics and Palestinian sources.

The solidarity march took place after the ignition of conflict between Hamas and Israel on Saturday. The Hamas-Israel war has already claimed hundreds of lives on both sides.

Our correspondent reported that dozens participated in a march Monday evening, waving Palestinian flags and chanting nationalist and religious slogans. Upon reaching one of the Fatah movement's offices in the camp, shots from an unknown source struck three protesters and a Fatah activist who was in front of the office.

One of the victims was shot in the chest and abdomen and died Tuesday morning.

Efforts are underway to prevent further tensions.

In late July and early September, deadly clashes erupted between Islamist Palestinian factions and Fatah fighters within the camp.
