BEIRUT — On Wednesday, a grenade exploded injuring a young boy in Beddawi, north of Tripoli. The boy accidentally set off the grenade after finding it in a vacant lot, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the area reported, citing security and medical sources.
Left in critical condition, the boy was transferred to a local hospital.
The blast caused panic among the area's residents. Police and Army officers were deployed to the scene and launched an investigation.
Abandoned explosive devices frequently cause casualties and injuries in the country.
