BEIRUT — The Abboudieh crossing point at the northern Lebanese-Syrian border experienced extreme congestion on Tuesday after the Arida crossing point was temporarily closed, L'Orient Today's correspondent reported.

The Arida point was closed because of an Internet problem at the General Security center in the area.

Those stuck in traffic called on acting general Security Chief Gen. Elias Bayssari to accelerate reparations of the Internet issue and to open the crossing point to reduce the congestion at the Abboudieh point, said our correspondent.

General security was not immediately available for comment on the issue.

There have been numerous public telecommunications outages in recent months, leaving people cut off from phone and internet services.
