Suspect surrenders after murder following soccer match in Tripoli

BEIRUT — Two days after a soccer match that ended with a fatal stabbing in Tripoli, North Lebanon, the main suspect was handed over to the courts by his father, a move endorsed by Akkar MP Walid Baarini, security sources confirmed to L'Orient Today's correspondant in North Lebanon. 

The suspect had been on the run since the incident.

The stabbing occurred on Wednesday evening in the Qobbeh district of Tripoli, North Lebanon, a spokesperson for the Internal Security Forces told L'Orient Today. A dispute had broken out between A.B. and S.Ch, according to eyewitnesses and police sources questioned by L'Orient Today's correspondent, with the former fatally stabbing the latter in the chest. The victim died at the scene, and his body was later taken to Tripoli's public hospital.

Security forces attended the scene and launched an investigation.
