BEIRUT — Lebanon's Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced Monday that it arrested two suspects involved in the murder of a man and his pregnant wife at a Jbeil resort earlier this month.
The victims, both of Syrian nationality, were found with their throats slit at the resort on Sept. 6.
One of the suspects (N.N.), a Syrian national in his forties, was arrested in his house in Jnah on Sept. 9. He later admitted to participating in the crime at the request of, A.H., a Syrian national born in 1978.
According to the ISF statement, A.H. traveled to Lebanon from Syria a month before the crime. According to the statement, he allegedly murdered the couple as vengeance for the death of his brother, who was allegedly killed in Syria by the couple before they fled to Lebanon.
A.H.'s brothers also allegedly traveled to Lebanon to participate in the crime. One day after the double murder, A.H. and his brothers reportedly fled to Syria through illegal routes, according to the ISF statement.
The ISF also arrested another person (R.D.) who allegedly helped N.N. and A.H. collect information about the two victims. R.D. reportedly confessed to this claim.
The ISF added that search and investigation notices were issued against suspects not arrested.
