BEIRUT — A man in his 30s was found dead Wednesday afternoon beside a vehicle, near the statue of Saint Charbel in the town of Faraya in Kesrouan, a security source confirmed to L’Orient Today Thursday.

The man, who was named by the security source and several local media outlets as Alain Mohasseb, was, according to the source, from the town of Ghusta in Kesrouan. He was found with a hunting-rifle gunshot wound to the head next to a four-wheel-drive vehicle, a Cherokee, with no license plates, the security source explained.

The deceased's body was discovered by law enforcement authorities, the source said, adding that a forensic expert attended the scene and investigations have begun to determine the circumstances of the man's death.

“The investigation is still ongoing to determine whether the young man was killed or whether he committed suicide,” the source said.

According to his Facebook page, Mohasseb used to live in Moscow, Russia, before relocating to Lebanon, and had been inactive on Facebook since 2021.
