White smoke over Beirut as waste and plastic fire extinguished in Jisr al-Basha

BEIRUT — A fire erupted Thursday morning in Jisr al-Basha, Matn district, causing white smoke to cover the surrounding areas, and notably Beirut suburbs.

Residents also reported a smell of burnt plastic in these areas.

The state-run National News Agency reported that the fire broke out in a waste and plastic collection center.

The Civil Defense succeeded in extinguishing the fire.
