BEIRUT — A man was killed and his brother was severely injured in a stabbing in Tariq al-Jadideh, Beirut, on Thursday night, a mukhtar (mayor) from the area confirmed to L'Orient Today.
Local media outlets reported Friday that the stabbing occurred in the neighborhood of Abou Shaker.
The mukhtar told L'Orient Today that "a personal dispute" was behind the incident and that it was not "orchestrated."
He confirmed that the injured person was in stable condition. According to several local media outlets, the man killed worked as a guard with the Beirut municipality.
The mukhtar added that a military intelligence patrol arrested three suspects.
L'Orient Today contacted the Lebanese Army intelligence unit, an Internal Security Forces spokesperson and the Beirut Municipality, but none were immediately available for comment.
