BEIRUT — The service provider company for Electricité du Liban "KVA" has been sealed with red wax due to meter tampering. The measure resulted from a decision issued by Financial Prosecutor, Judge Ali Ibrahim, a judicial source confirmed to L’Orient Today Thursday.

KVA is a consortium of three companies specializing in the management of public utilities.

The source also noted that the company's manager and collection manager have been arrested.

“The company is a private company contracted with the government and has not been doing its role. It’s also tasked with the maintenance of utilities belonging to EDL and the company has not been doing so,” the source concluded.

Meanwhile, the state-run EDL provides citizens with a mere few hours of electricity per day, due to limited finances and production capabilities.

Residents are forced to rely on subscriptions to private generators for power, an in more recent years, solar panels.
