BEIRUT — Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah met with Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ziad Nakhale and the party's Deputy Secretary General, Mohammad Hindi, the party announced in a statement issued Sunday without specifying the exact date of the meeting. The location of the meeting was not specified either, as Nasrallah has been living in hiding since the July 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel.
The two men reviewed "the latest developments in Palestine, Lebanon and the region," the statement said. They also discussed "the latest events, threats and opportunities facing the axis of resistance."
Nasrallah also met the head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a Tehran-backed Palestinian Islamist organization, last March.
On Saturday morning, Nasrallah received a delegation from the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, led by chairman Vahid Jalalzadeh, who is currently on a tour of Lebanon.
The Palestinian camp of Ain al-Hilweh, on the outskirts of Saida, was the scene of violent clashes over several days in late July and early August between fighters from the Fatah movement and Palestinian Islamists groups. The fighting was the deadliest in several years, forcing some 350 families to leave the camp and take refuge in the surrounding area.
