BEIRUT — One person was killed and several others were injured in gunfire near Sebline, Mount Lebanon, on Tuesday, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The incident happened in the area of Wadi al-Zayneh on the outskirts of Sebline, according to NNA.

Social media posts claimed that the victim was a member of Hezbollah. However, sources within Internal Security Forces (ISF) and the Lebanese Army did not confirm this information to L'Orient Today.

According to a Hezbollah spokesperson, the victim is from the Kanaan family and his son, Hussein Bilal Kanaan, is among the injured.

The shooting was due to a "personal" dispute, according to the spokesperson, and had "nothing to do with politics."

"Investigations should be made first before any comment on this matter," said the army source.

The ISF security source told L'Orient Today that the victims were transferred to a hospital and that the situation in the region is now calm.

According to another security source, the shooting took place around 12:30 p.m. between two people— Ali Kamal al-Din and Bilal Abbas Kanaan.

According to the same source, the fight started with an "exchange of looks" and then escalated into an exchange of gunfire.
