BEIRUT — A dispute over real estate broke out on Tuesday overnight in Zrarieh, South Lebanon, between two families, leading to several injuries, some of which are serious, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported on Wednesday.

The dispute, which occurred at midnight, involved shooting.

According to NNA, gunfire was heard in the town on Wednesday morning and some streets were blocked.

The Mayor of Zrarieh told L'Orient Today that "three people were injured." He added that his" main concern right now is the recovery of the injured people who are still in the hospital."

The mayor also said that "the shooters are still out of sight." Finally, he noted that the situation is now calm in the town.

L'Orient Today tried to contact the spokesperson of the Internal Security Forces but he was not immediately reachable.

Disputes over real estate often occur in Lebanon. On July 2, a land dispute led to the death of two citizens near Qornet al-Sawda, Lebanon's highest peak.
