BEIRUT — State Security arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting a minor girl in a sports club located in the Metn area, state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported on Wednesday.
According to a State Security statemet published by the NNA, the 13-year-old teenager was practicing some sports exercises in an unidentified club when the 22-year-old assaulted her. Other club members came to her rescue when they heard her screams.
State Security was able to track the suspect’s whereabouts, notably through CCTV footage, and arrested him in his house the next morning at 6 a.m. The security service said that the suspect later confessed to the crime.
Multiple sexual assault cases against children and teenagers have been recorded in recent weeks in Lebanon.
