Suspect arrested for fatally shooting wife in Batroun

BEIRUT — A man allegedly shot his wife dead in her sleep in Chabtine, Batroun, a security source confirmed to L'Orient Today.

At around 2 a.m., Lebanese suspect G.N. shot his wife, E.S., with several bullets while she was asleep. The man was later arrested and the body of the victim was taken to Batroun Hospital.

A senior security source told L’Orient Today that preliminary investigations show the suspected killer takes medicines and may not be aware of his actions. The source spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to give statements to the press.

The mayors of Batroun and Chabtine were not immediately available for comment.

Several violent crimes against women have taken place in Lebanon in recent months. On June 8, a man in Jezzine allegedly murdered his wife and her mother before killing himself.
