BEIRUT — A collision between a truck and a bus at the Zahle roundabout in the Bekaa Valley injured about a dozen people on Friday night, our correspondent reports. No fatalities have been reported.
The Red Cross, Civil Defense and Internal Security Forces (ISF) responded to the scene of the crash. Hospitals in the Zahle region appealed online to the public for blood donations of all kinds to treat the wounded.
In a video sent to L'Orient Today, a firefighter is seen instructing people on the scene to move away from the high-voltage electricity poles damaged by the bus, for fear of fire. The video also shows a billboard damaged by the truck.
Road accidents are a frequent occurrence in Lebanon, where the road infrastructure continues to deteriorate and the authorities are struggling to ensure traffic safety.
