BEIRUT — The Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) on Tuesday extended, as expected, the term of its Board of Directors and its head Salim Sfeir for another year, a source from ABL confirmed to L'Orient-Le Jour.
In a press release, ABL said the one-year extension had been decided "on an exceptional basis."
Headed by Salim Sfeir, CEO of Bank of Beirut, the Board of Directors also includes Nadim Kassar (ABL Vice-Chairman), Managing Director of Fransabank Group; Walid Raphael (Secretary), CEO of Banque Libano-Française; Tanal Sabbah (Treasurer), CEO of Lebanese Swiss Bank; Bank Audi CEO Samir Hanna; Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries (BBAC) CEO Ghassan Assaf; BLOM Bank CEO Saad Azhari; Byblos Bank CEO Semaan Bassil; Fenicia Bank CEO Abdel Razzak Achour; SGBL CEO Antoun Sehnaoui; and Crédit Libanais CEO Joseph Torbey.
The mandate of this board, which was elected in 2021, was due to expire on June 30, but has now been extended by a year. Salim Sfeir has headed the ABL since 2019, when he succeeded Joseph Torbey.
