BEIRUT — Lebanon's public fixed-line telephone and internet provider Ogero announced an ongoing outage on Friday at its Tripoli transmission station in North Lebanon, following "a power surge on the generators."

The outage has brought the service to a halt in the affected localities and surrounding areas, Ogero added on its Twitter account.

Maintenance teams are working to repair the fault, the utility said.

Ogero's network has regularly experienced such breakdowns since the onset of the economic crisis, notably due to a lack of electricity supply or equipment theft.
