BEIRUT — Lebanese Ambassador to France Rami Adwan denied to L'Orient Today on Friday morning local reports claiming that he was arrested "in a European country" over a misdemeanor.

Local publications reported on Thursday evening that Adwan was arrested "in a known European country over a misdemeanor" and that "more details will be announced in the European press tomorrow."

"I have not been arrested, and I do not know who is spreading such nonsense," Adwan told L'Orient Today.

A spokesperson for the Lebanese Foreign Ministry was not immediately available for comment.
