BEIRUT — One man was killed and three others were injured Tuesday night after armed clashes broke out between a number of young men in the locality of al-Maarad in Tripoli, North Lebanon, due to a personal dispute, our correspondent in the north reported.
According to our correspondent, the exact motives for the dispute remain unknown.
The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, and a Lebanese Army force arrived at the scene and worked to restore calm and track down the suspects in the shooting, our correspondent added.
A security source told L’Orient Today’s correspondent that security forces have arrested one of the suspects involved in the shooting and that investigations are underway.
A state of anger prevailed overnight in the Bab al-Tabbaneh area in the vicinity of the victim's house, and heavy gunfire was heard in the area during the night, according to our correspondent.
In September, caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced a "sustainable" security plan for North Lebanon, following deadly shootings in Tripoli that raised fears of more violence. However, security incidents continue to occur in the city.
