BEIRUT — The prices of Arabic bread bundles in Lebanon decreased slightly on Monday, according to the latest tariffs published by the Ministry of Economy and Trade.

On the same day, the national currency recovered slightly against the dollar on the parallel market.

The medium-weight package now weighs 828 grams and costs LL37,000, down from LL40,000 for 823 grams on March 23. The large package now weighs 1,049 grams and costs LL45,000, down from LL48,000 for 1,025 grams.

Small bread bundles have recently been removed from the market.

The lira experienced a slight appreciation following the end of last week. After sitting around LL108,000 to the dollar on the parallel market for several days, the rate reached LL100,000 to the dollar on Monday.

Representatives of the bakery syndicate told the National News Agency (NNA) last month that they want to price bread in dollars, given the volatility of the lira.

The Ministry of Economy has not yet announced any official transition.
