BEIRUT — The Civil Defense on Friday discovered that the man who was found dead in a burned car on Thursday, near Spinneys in Tripoli, had been shot before the fire. Civil Defense member Ali Mousa examined the body following the incident and said that the deceased man could not get out of the burning car because he had been shot.

An investigation on the incident was opened, L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent in the area reported.

Violent incidents in Tripoli are not uncommon, especially after the onset of the economic crisis which has further compromised the state's authority in many areas.
