BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army shot at an Israeli drone that violated Lebanon’s airspace in the towns of Hula and Wadi Huneen, South Lebanon, the army said in a tweet, Friday. It did not specify whether it was able to actually shoot down the drone in question.

“While an army patrol was inspecting one of the Israeli airspace violations in the outskirts of the towns of Hula and Wadi Huneen in South Lebanon, a drone belonging to the Israeli enemy violated Lebanese airspace in the aforementioned area and flew over the patrol, prompting the soldiers to fire at it,” the tweet said.

Lebanon has already lodged complaints several times against Israel at the UN, following violations of this nature. Over the period from 2007 to December 2021, no fewer than 22,111 Israeli fighter jets entered Lebanese skies. The Israeli air force regularly targets Syria via Lebanese airspace.
