BEIRUT — Lebanon on Friday recorded one new cholera case but no deaths in the previous 24 hours, the Health Ministry said in its daily report.

The total number of cases recorded since the beginning of the outbreak in October is now 666. Lebanon has also recorded a total of 23 deaths from the illness. This cholera outbreak is the country's first since 1993.

Lebanon received 900,000 additional cholera vaccine doses last week with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Coordination Group as part of the vaccination campaign's second phase.

Meanwhile, the country's cholera outbreak seems to be under control, according to a statement by the United Nations Information Center Beirut.

"Among the 20 out of the 26 districts at the national level with recorded laboratory-confirmed cases, Akkar and the North governorates are still recording the highest number of cases," the UN statement said.
