The first online civil marriage was celebrated in Lebanon on Nov. 18, 2021.Khalil Rizkallah and Nada Nehme, who were present in Lebanon, were married by a judge from the state of Utah, before witnesses, family, and friends.Before embarking on this adventure, the couple sought to ensure that their union would be considered legally officiated and were reassured by the Lebanese consulate in Los Angeles, on the premise that marriages in Utah must be registered in the US.They also obtained official recognition of their marriage, through a marriage certificate, and a family status record.Everything was ready for the couple to welcome their son on Oct. 1.But a few days earlier, the police informed them that the Director General of Civil Status, Gen.
