BEIRUT — State Security announced Saturday that it arrested an employee, S.S., who works for the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Establishment, on suspicion of theft and illegal resale of fuel oil belonging to the water establishment, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The man, in charge of billing for the water establishment, was also the keeper of the water pump of Haret Sakher in Kesrouan. He is accused of stealing fuel oil needed for the pump operation, according to the NNA.  An investigation is underway.

To cope with these shortages, residents have to buy water from privately-supplied water from a roving truck.
