The Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Monday the arrest of two young Syrians, identified by the initials A. A. and K. A., on suspicion of stealing electrical cables from the National Library of Lebanon in the Sanayeh area of Beirut.

Aged 14 and 19, the two teenagers allegedly cut and then removed electrical cables on Nov. 14 and 19. "The first was arrested in Hamra, near Sanayeh Park, on a motorbike," the ISF reported on Twitter. The second was apprehended in the Ras al-Nabah areas of the capital, it added.

According to the ISF, the first suspect confessed to stealing electrical cables from inside the library and asking his accomplice to join him on a motorbike, but said that as they were about to leave on the motorbike, a breakdown prevented them from setting off, and they left the cables in bags on the street.

The second suspect also admitted to the charges, according to the ISF.

The investigation is ongoing.
