BEIRUT — Sounds of fighter jets flying at low altitudes were heard on Sunday evening in Lebanon, especially in Batroun in the north of the country, L'Orient Today's correspondent reported.

A video filmed by our correspondent in Batroun shows white lights in the sky and a loud noise can be heard.

According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, Syrian air defenses fired on Sunday night at "enemy targets" over the southeastern suburb of Homs, relatively close to the Lebanese border. It did not specify whether it was missiles or aircraft that were targeted. Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar reported on Sunday that it was not clear if the objects seen over Lebanon were Israeli airplanes or missiles.

Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace occur almost daily. Over the period from 2007 to December 2021, no fewer than 22,111 Israeli fighter jets entered Lebanese skies. The Israeli air force regularly targets Syria via Lebanese airspace.
